Blog #3- Conflict

The main conflict in the novel is trust. Since the book takes place in a societe on the brink of revalution, its hard to find someone to trust. On both sides, protagonist and antagonists, the characters find it hard to trust each other, especially when they're forced to trust each other.

Katniss is use to fending for hershelf and being the head of her family, when it comes down to it the only person she trusts is hershelf. But now she is part of a team, she has people that trust in her abilities, and she has to trust in them. But the real conflict starts when she has to team up with other tributs in the arena. As they take turns for watch at night, they have to trust that the person thats guarding them won't take the advantage and kill them in their sleep.

Near the end of the book Katniss over comes her fear of trust when she leave Peeta in the hands of her allies. She swear to hershelf going into the games that she would do anything possible to keep him alive. But there comes a point where she has to leave his side to do a mission, so she leaves him with another tribut to look after him. In the begining of the games she would not leave him alone by himshelf, out of fear of the alliance being broken and he being killed. But after many life death situations she begins to trust that her new allies will not harm him. So she decides to leave Peeta under their protection.

Have you ever been in a situation were you have been force to trust someone? like a stepfather, of a friend of a friend you've never met? Did you find that it wasn't as hard to trust them after you got to know them? yes or no?

  1. It would definititely be hard to trust somebody that you dont know, because your trust has not been developed toward the person, and it is hard to trust them, but after you start talking to the person more, you develop a trust between each other.

  2. I have never been put in this situation but just from reading it I can imagine how tough it would be to trust someone you barely even know. Until you and a person have established a relationship, or even a trust between eachother, it is hard to be trustworthy of one another.

  3. I myself have never been in this situation before, but trust is a hard thing to earn from someone else. Especially in Katniss' situation, she has to learn to trust people that she doesnt even know, let alone people that could kill her. But over time you do earn trust from one another and it become easier.

  4. Yes there have been many times where i had to trust someone when i wasnt really sure or ready to trust them. After time it got easier though, because when you really get to know someone and who they are you learn to trust them naturally. For me trust is a really hard thing,so if i really dont know the person its usually almost imposible to trust them.

  5. No, I have never been in a situation where I was forced to trust someone I dont know because I wouldn't even pretend to trust anyone I dont know. If I was in Katniss position I would be very careful and make sure that I got to know the people very well before I gave them my full trust. Everyone has to earn trust it is never just given to someone right away.
