Blog#4

The major issuse in the novel is when Katniss and Peeta are sent back into the hunger games. That was a pretty bigh twist on its on because i was expecting the whole novel to be about rebellions, and then that happend a third way through the book. From there i was expecting it to play out as the first did. The enter the games and through a seris of events katniss would be crowned the winner in the end. That also didn't happen, near the end of the book it was reviled that the rebellion was involved with the hungry games. In the end Three out of the last seven contestents excape, while the other are captured by the capital. This was a big surprise and left a huge cliff hanger for the next book, being that this is the second in the serise. The ending was believable but very unexpected.

I really like this book seris and look forward to reading the last instalement, I could but the first two down. They are full of action and relatiable to both genders.

Blog #3- Conflict

The main conflict in the novel is trust. Since the book takes place in a societe on the brink of revalution, its hard to find someone to trust. On both sides, protagonist and antagonists, the characters find it hard to trust each other, especially when they're forced to trust each other.

Katniss is use to fending for hershelf and being the head of her family, when it comes down to it the only person she trusts is hershelf. But now she is part of a team, she has people that trust in her abilities, and she has to trust in them. But the real conflict starts when she has to team up with other tributs in the arena. As they take turns for watch at night, they have to trust that the person thats guarding them won't take the advantage and kill them in their sleep.

Near the end of the book Katniss over comes her fear of trust when she leave Peeta in the hands of her allies. She swear to hershelf going into the games that she would do anything possible to keep him alive. But there comes a point where she has to leave his side to do a mission, so she leaves him with another tribut to look after him. In the begining of the games she would not leave him alone by himshelf, out of fear of the alliance being broken and he being killed. But after many life death situations she begins to trust that her new allies will not harm him. So she decides to leave Peeta under their protection.

Have you ever been in a situation were you have been force to trust someone? like a stepfather, of a friend of a friend you've never met? Did you find that it wasn't as hard to trust them after you got to know them? yes or no?

The Plot of The First Book-The Hungry Games by Suzanne Colines

The Hunger Games takes place in an unidentified future time period after the destruction of North America, in a nation known as Panem. Panem consists of a rich Capitol and twelve surrounding, poorer districts. As punishment for a previous rebellion against the Capitol, every year one boy and one girl between the ages of 12 and 18 from each district are selected at random and forced to participate in The Hunger Games, a televised event where the participants, or "tributes", must fight to the death in a dangerous outdoor arena until only one remains. The story follows fatherless 16-year-old Katniss Everdeen, a girl from District 12 who volunteers for the 74th Games in place of her younger sister, Prim. Also participating from District 12 is Peeta Mellark, a boy whom Katniss knows from school and who once saved Katniss's life by giving her bread when her family was starving.
Katniss and Peeta are taken to the Capitol, where they meet the other tributes and are publicly displayed to the Capitol audience. During this time, Peeta reveals on-air his long-time unrequited love for Katniss. Katniss believes this to be a ploy to gain audience support for the Games, which can be crucial for survival, as audience members are permitted to send gifts to favored tributes during the Games. The Games begin with 11 of the 24 tributes dying in the first day, while Katniss relies on her well-practiced hunting and outdoors skills to survive. As the Games continue, the tribute death toll increases, but both Katniss and Peeta are able to evade death.
Supposedly due to Katniss and Peeta's beloved image to the audience as "star-crossed lovers", a rule change is announced midway through the Games, stating that two tributes from the same district can win the Hunger Games as a pair. Upon hearing this, Katniss searches for Peeta and finds him wounded. She nurses him back to health and acts the part of a young girl falling in love to gain more favor with the audience and, consequently, gifts from her sponsors. When the couple manages to outlast all the other tributes the Gamemakers suddenly reverse the rule change and try to force them into a dramatic finale where one must kill the other to win. Instead, they both threaten suicide and are subsequently both declared winners.
Though she survives the ordeal in the arena and is treated to a hero's welcome in the Capitol, Katniss is warned that she has now become a political target after having defied her society's authoritarian leaders so publicly. Afterward, Peeta is heartbroken to learn that their relationship was at least partially a calculated ploy to garner sympathy from the audience, although Katniss herself remains unsure of her own feelings.
